Covid-19 Guarantee

We appreciate that booking travel for the future is a difficult decision for many during this time of uncertainty.  We also want to make sure you’re aware of instances where we may not be able to assist you, to help you make the right choice about your travel plans.

The following terms only apply where a booking is directly affected by COVID-19. For all other changes and cancellations, normal terms and conditions apply. 

1. If the event you have booked is cancelled, has its capacity reduced or is operated behind closed doors:

a. A full refund will be available for elements booked with sportsbreaks.com 

and

b. The option to move to another event will be offered if available, rather than taking the refund

We’ll communicate your options to you by email within 48-hours of the event details changing in this way.  We’ll let you know if there is an alternative option and how to go about making the change or requesting your money back. 

On some occasions, we may not be able to offer an alternative event.  If this happens, we’ll let you know by email, and automatically refund the card used to make your payments to us. 

Refunds and amendments will be complete within 14 days of us letting you know about a change or cancellation. 

You will not be obliged to take any alternative offered if the event has changed or been cancelled.  A refund will always be available. 

Although ‘ticket only’ bookings, ‘travel only’ bookings and trips lasting less than 24-hours are not covered by the Package Travel Regulations 2018, we’ll refund these bookings in the same manner as a package, if the event or associated travel arrangements made by us are directly affected by COVID-19.

We can only refund for elements of any trip booked with sportsbreaks.com.  If you have booked travel, accommodation or any other associated arrangements independently to supplement your sportsbreaks.com package, we are unable to offer any form of refund or compensation should your supplier be unable to offer you cancellation in case of an event not going ahead. 

Please note that if you have booked travel or accommodation independently of Sportsbreaks.com and this is cancelled or changed but the event or trip we’ve booked for you is still operational, full cancellation charges and amendment fees will apply.

2. If an element of your trip is cancelled by our supplier (other than the event itself):

a. We’ll offer a suitable alternative, in line with our terms and conditions under section 17:

Changes: If we make a minor change to your itinerary, we’ll make reasonable efforts to inform you as soon as reasonably possible if there is time before your departure but we’ll have no liability to you. Examples of minor changes include alteration of your outward/return flights by less than 12 hours, changes to aircraft type, change of accommodation to another of the same or higher standard, changes of carriers. Please note that carriers such as airlines used in the brochure may be subject to change.

b. If we cannot offer a suitable alternative, or if the alternative on offer constitutes a significant change, we’ll offer a full refund.  You can choose to accept the significant change if you wish, however compensation for accepting such a change will not be granted in these circumstances. 

A significant change includes:

(a) A change of accommodation area for the whole or a significant part of your time away*.

(b) A change of accommodation to that of a lower standard or classification for the whole or a significant part of your time away*. 

(c) A change of outward departure time or overall length of your arrangements by more than 12 hours. 

(d) A change of UK departure airport except between: 

I. The London airports: Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Stansted, London City and Southend 

II. The South Coast airports: Southampton, Bournemouth and Exeter

III. The South Western airports: Cardiff and Bristol 

IV. The Midlands airports: Birmingham, East Midlands and Doncaster Sheffield

V. The Northern airports: Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds Bradford 

VI. The North Eastern airports: Newcastle and Teesside 

VII. The Scottish airports: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Prestwick and Aberdeen 

(e) A significant change to your itinerary, missing out one or more event entirely. 

You must notify us of your choice within 7 days of our offer. If we do not hear from you within 7 days, we’ll contact you again to request notification of your choice. If you fail to respond again, we’ll assume that you have chosen to accept the change or alternative booking arrangements. 

If the alternative offered is not considered a ‘significant change’ in our terms and conditions but you still wish to cancel, normal cancellation charges will apply.

3. Quarantine

As our trips and events operate across the World and are attended by customers also from across the World, we are not able to offer protection for bookings where quarantine is enforced either on arrival in your destination or on arrival back home following your trip if the travel and/or event is going ahead as planned.

We can however look at each booking on a case by case basis and may be able to change your booking to an alternative event with no amendment fees (subject to price and availability of the new arrangement).  This will depend entirely on whether or not we are able to recoup the cost of your trip/event at the point in time in which you contact us. 

If you find yourself subject to quarantine either at home or at your destination, and this will affect a booking you already have with us, please contact us at hello@sportsbreaks.com or on +44 (0) 333 2309 115 to discuss this further. We’ll help as much as we possibly can. 

4. Agent Bookings

If you have booked a Sportsbreaks.com trip or event through a third party agent, the above policies will still apply to any part of your booking that is booked with us. We are not able to refund or amend bookings where an element that is not associated with Sportsbreaks.com has been added on by a third party and is affected by COVID-19. 

Sportsbreaks.com will contact your agent with the above options should your booking be affected by a COVID-19 related change or cancellation, and any refunds will be sent to the agent to be passed on to you.

You should already be in receipt of a Sportsbreaks.com confirmation passed to you by your agent for any elements of your trip booked with us, and this should include a full breakdown of the elements booked and the price paid to us. 

We’ll unable to refund you directly or make any amendments to your booking if you have booked through an agent; the agent must contact us on your behalf.
