Lisbon's top attractions

Bairro Alto

Wander the steep cobbled streets of bohemian Bairro Alto, ride the Bica Funicular, visit lavish São Roque Church and take in the views from Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara. Many of the centuries-old houses in the neighbourhood are decorated with vivid street art and beautiful traditional tiled facades. After sundown, a diverse crowd fill the hip, quirky bars, while the evocative sound of Fado music is heard from traditional restaurants. If you’re keen to experience the “real Lisbon”, you’ll want to spend some time in this area.

Praça do Comércio

For a little bit of history and culture, head to the Praça do Comércio in the heart of the city. While you’re there, why not take a quick pit-stop at Martinho da Arcada, the oldest cafe in Lisbon, established in 1782!

Jerónimos Monastery

You can’t go to Lisbon without trying the custard tarts from Belém. It’s the law. The secret recipe is centuries old and was created by monks from the nearby Jerónimos Monastery. A short 20-minute train journey from Lisbon - if you’re a foodie, you need to make time for this!
