Fresh from his triumph at the PDC Super Series, Wright has now won his 5th title of 2021 following his victory over Jonny Clayton, adding to his recent World Matchplay crown.

But with Clayton himself having won several events this year, and placing well in others, in addition to the household name that is Raymond van Barneveld also doing well this year, it is truly anyone’s championship to win coming into this year’s event.

Having first hosted the William Hill World Darts Championship for the 2007/08 event after replacing the Circus Tavern in Essex, attending the Alexandra Palace has become something of a pilgrimage for avid darting fans.
